Wound Management and Care
Wound problems have been around as man on earth and are prevalent
in nearly all aspects of health care (Bryant & Nix, 2007)
Wound management is the comprehensive, holistic care of
patient in such a manner that all factors contributing to and affecting the
wound and the patient are addressed.
In our medical libraries, wound care and
management books are usually
found under the surgery. In general surgical books will have a few pages on it, as well as medical-surgical nursing books, and in other
books dedicated to specifically cover the subject comprehensively such as those
dealing with wound care procedures, acute and chronic wounds, and wound and
suturing books. Some nursing also contain information on wound management and
care.
Below are some examples of the numerous wound management and

Surgical books-
These have chapters on the management of wounds. examples include:

Medical surgical nursing
usually for nursing profession and have chapters on wound management. some examples are:

Specific wound management books
-very
comprehensive and detailed on wound management. Cover acute and chronic wounds,
physiology wound healing, sutures and needles, practicum, wound infection,
wound pain, wound dressing amongst other topics in wound management. Below are some examples:
